“I don’t know at this point if I will stay in middle school or if I will ever return to high school. I enjoy the high school curriculum, but I love where I am. Heritage Middle School is a wonderful place to work. Everyone is like family.”
Her teaching career began at Red Bank High School in Hamilton County, Tenn., where she taught calculus and physics for six years. She eventually ended up at Heritage Middle School, where she said the atmosphere is ideal and her peers are very gracious.
“I work with a wonderful group of teachers,” Wolfe said. “They go above and beyond, and I was very surprised and honored that my name was among theirs.”
Wolfe said getting to know her students is an important aspect of her daily job.
“By meeting their needs and allowing them several opportunities to showcase what they know, I feel all students can be successful,” Wolfe said. “I became a teacher because I love students as well as math and wanted to share my love of math with them.”
Her inspiration often comes from her best friend, Erika Perry.
“She always pushes her students to be successful and she sets the bar high,” Wolfe said. “She and I always tackle math problems differently, which reminds me how different each learner is and encourages me to allow students the opportunity to explore math and discover methods that are best suited for them.”
Although Wolfe said she would like to retire from teaching in Catoosa County, she said that decision is “much later down the road” and she’s happy where she is for now.
Wolfe has been married to her husband James for 18 years, and they have two boys, Dougie, 16, and Noah, 14. When she isn’t teaching, Wolfe loves to read, enjoys hikes outside when the weather is nice and takes advantage of any opportunity to gather together with her family.
