The Cruise-In car shows in Fort Oglethorpe are starting up again this month. The events will take place on the third Saturday of each month until November beginning at 4 p.m. until dark.
LaFayette Road will be shut down during the event from Long John Silver’s toward the Chickamauga Battlefield Park.
There is no fee for showing cars.
Bruce Fine with the Fort Oglethorpe Downtown Development Authority (DDA) said for March, some vendors are returning from last year, but some are new.
This month, vendors will be selling car parts, kettle corn, funnel cakes and other sweets, and beef jerky. Save-A-Lot will have a hotdog stand with drinks and potato chips.
This month’s Cruise-In will be held Saturday, March 20, beginning at 4 p.m. For information about volunteering, contact Bruce Fine at 423-593-8408.
The vendors will change each month, according to who is available to attend. Fine said he hopes to have more vendors as the months continue.
The restaurants and stores will also have extended these days.
The grand prize for the event will be a 350 Chevrolet transmission.
There will also be a 50-50 raffle drawing at each event. Half of the money raised in raffle tickets sales will go to the drawing winner and the other half of the money will go to the DDA to help pay for the event.
Fine said some months a percentage of the raffle money will be donated to a local charity.
They are still looking for volunteers to help, he said.
If it rains on the Saturday of the event, there will be no make-up day. The event will continue the next month as regularly scheduled.
