An Adairsville man was killed Wednesday evening in a one-vehicle wreck on Ga. 140 just inside Bartow County that had the road blocked for hours.

The Georgia State Patrol reported that around 6 p.m. Wednesday, a black Ford F-250 pickup truck eastbound on Ga. 140 lost control on the east shoulder, hit something and went airborne, clipping a power pole and breaking it in half. The truck then slammed into a large pine tree before spinning to a stop.

The driver, 46-year-old Bryan Plumley of a Princeton Avenue address in Adairsville, was thrown from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck was near the state road’s intersection with Big Oak Tree Road about four miles west of Adairsville.

Emergency responders on the scene included DOT trucks, Bartow Rescue, Bartow EMS and Georgia State Patrol.
