Ringgold Elementary School recently had the privilege of having all-day art classes provided by Michael P. White. His artwork has been featured in many galleries including a show highlighting his book illustrations at the Hudgens Center for the Arts. White has illustrated three children’s books: “The Library Dragon,” “The Secret of Old Zeb” and “Harriet’s Horrible Hair Day.”
He is currently working on the sequel to “The Library Dragon.” White consideres himself to have a dream job working with students of all ages on how one idea can create a story.
White lives with his wife, Traci, his seven-year old daughter, Madeline, and five dogs. White donated over 20 illustrations to RES. Two of them will be framed, one for principal Kim Erwin’s office and one for the media center. All other artwork was auctioned off at Family Reading night. A few of his illustrations will be available for auction during Science Night. The visiting artist also created bookmarks especially for RES. Every student received one.
