Shooting suspect captured; unconfirmed reports say one person is dead

CALHOUN -- A suspect in a fatal Thursday shooting was captured around 10 p.m., according to unconfirmed reports.

Gordon County Sheriff's deputies reportedly found the suspect hiding near Hill City Baptist Church in northern Gordon County near the Whitfield County line.

The Calhoun Times has received unconfirmed reports that at least one person is dead.

The GBI and Whitifield County authorities were involved in the five-hour search following the shooting, which occured around 5 p.m. Thursday in the Craigtown Road area in Resaca, according to police reports and the Gordon County 911 Center.

The identities of the victim and the suspect have not yet been released.
