The Walker County Extension Service will hold a Sprayer Calibration Clinic March 17. It will be at the Walker County Ag Center from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Those attending will get hands-on experience at calibrating a boomless tractor-mounted sprayer, which is commonly used by farmers in pastures and hayfields.

Sprayer calibration is a necessary step to help determine the amount of water a spray rig is applying per acre. Once the sprayer is calibrated, the correct amount of weed or insect control product can be added to ensure you will get the desired results.

Farmers attending the clinic that have a private pesticide license will earn one hour of recertification credit.

The class is free, but those planning to attend should call the Walker County Extension Office at 706-638-2548 to sign up.

Norman Edwards is coordinator of Walker County Extension Service.
