District 2 and district 4 posts are up for election. District 2 includes three precincts: Duncan Park, West Side and Boynton. District 4 includes five precincts: Blackstock, Catoosa, Keith, Poplar Springs and Woodstation.
Jane Everett currently holds the seat for district 2, while David Moeller holds the seat for district 4.
Everett is finishing her second term, and Moeller his first. Both incumbents say that they each have plans to seek re-election.
“I do plan to run again in November,” Moeller said. “My kids go to school at Tiger Creek, my wife teaches at Ringgold, and our one-year-old will eventually go to Tiger Creek as well. So the school system in our county is very important to me, and that is why I want to continue to serve.”
“Truly, what I want is to do the best I can do for the school system,” Everett said. “I want to help create the best education possible for the students of Catoosa County.”
Qualifying to run for the seats will be held Monday, June 28, through Friday, July 2. Hopefuls can qualify at the county elections office at 7658 Nashville St. in Ringgold. Qualifying times are: Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon.
The fee to qualify is $90.
The election will be held on Nov. 2, and if needed, a runoff election would be held Nov. 30.
Catoosa school board elections are non-partisan, meaning candidates do not run as on a party ticket such as Democrat, Republican or independent. School board members serve four-year terms.
