Authorities are investigating an auto theft in which a Ringgold couple had their vehicle stolen from a church parking lot.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

The theft occurred between 5:15 p.m. and 6:33 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, at St. Gerald Catholic Church at 3049 LaFayette Road.

The victims, a Ringgold couple, told police that when they attempted to leave the church, they realized their vehicle had been stolen, reports show.

“There was glass on the ground where one of the passenger side windows had been broken out,” officer Robert Goolsby said. “The victim also advised that his wife’s purse along with checks, a Visa check card, and a cell phone were inside the vehicle as well.”

Nobody near the church at the time of incident could recall seeing any suspicious persons walking through the parking lot of the church, so officers were unable to obtain any sort of description of possible suspects.

The stolen vehicle is a gray 2004 Honda Odyssey with tag number WC5246.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is encouraged to contact the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department at (706)-866-2512.
