Ringgold to host annual fall baseball academy starting in September

Ringgold Baseball's annual fall baseball academy for third through eighth graders will begin in September and will be held each Wednesday and Thursday for six consecutive weeks.

The Pitching Academy will begin Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. The Defensive Academy will begin Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m., and the Hitting Academy will begin Sept. 6 at 6 p.m.

The Academy instructors will be Ringgold High School head baseball coach Brent Tucker, Ringgold High pitching coach Danny Wiltz, former Ringgold Tigers Jesse Cross and Keith Linebarger, and former Gordon Lee Trojan Pete Hughes.

Wiltz played collegiate ball at the University of Tennessee. He was later drafted and played professionally for the Chicago White Sox organization. Cross played professionally in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Linebarger played professionally in the Minnesota Twins organization, while Hughes was a college player and has served as an assistant high school coach and instructor for many years.

The cost will be $120 per camper for one six-week segment, $180 for two six-week segments, and $200 for all three segments.
