As of Thursday afternoon, four people — including two incumbents and two challengers — had qualified to run for two posts on the Catoosa County school board.

District 2 and District 4 posts are up for election. District 2 includes three precincts: Duncan Park, West Side and Boynton. District 4 includes five precincts: Blackstock, Catoosa, Keith, Poplar Springs and Woodstation.

District 2 incumbent Jane Everett, 69, has qualified to seek re-election. She is finishing her second term. Everett is a retired teacher.

Also, Patricia Page, 73, of Rossville, and Daphne Scherzer, 41, of Ringgold have qualified to run for the District 2 post. Page is an insurance agent. Scherzer did not list a profession on her qualifying application.

District 4 incumbent David Moeller, 40, has qualified to seek re-election. He is finishing his first term. Moeller is a court administrator.

Qualifying for the posts opened Monday and continues through noon Friday. The qualifying fee is $90. The posts are non-partisan, meaning candidates do not declare a political party. The election will be held Nov. 2.
