The girls’ game will begin at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow at approximately 8 p.m.
In the first game, LFO head coach Stacy Pickens will lead the Georgia girls against a Tennessee squad led by Baylor coach Jimmy Weekley.
Pickens guided the Lady Warriors to their first-ever state tournament appearance this past spring.
Team Georgia’s roster will include Carrie Freshour (Adairsville), a Berry College signee who scored over 100 career goals in high school, Carrollton High’s top scorer Gabby Smith and teammate Ann Rhudy in goal.
Jimmy Weekley of Baylor leads Team Tennessee. Baylor has won four straight Division II state championships and six of the last eight.
Weekley will have a number of the Chattanooga area’s top senior talent, including Baylor’s Monica Hertle and Hayes Taylor, Ooltewah’s Holly Hullander and Notre Dame star Amy Schmerhorn.
Tennessee won last year’s inaugural girls’ game, 3-0, at Notre Dame.
In the nightcap, the Tennessee boys are looking for their third straight win in the series after a 2-1 win a year ago.
Andy Arnold of LaFayette will direct the north Georgia squad after leading LaFayette to the state playoffs this past spring. Eight Walker County boys will suit up in the game as well as a number of players from Whitfield County.
Tennessee will counter with a team led by Bobby Earls of McMinn County who has coached the last two Tennessee teams to victory.
Cherokee forward Jared Price will led the charge for the Volunteer State. Price had 38 goals and 11 assists this season and finished a dazzling high school career with 106
goals.
The series continues next week with the Volleyball Classic at GPS at 7 p.m. and concludes on Thursday with the Softball Classic at Frost Stadium at 7 p.m.
