Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care and Christ Chapel are taking pet food donations during Feburary in an effort to keep animals in their homes.

The economic crisis is forcing many people to surrender their pets because they simply cannot afford food.

CCAC asks for people to donate food to Christ Chapel. The food will be distributed based on their current requirements for assistance.

All types of pet food are needed: dry and canned food for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Open food containers cannot be accepted because this food is distributed to the public.

Food can be delivered directly to Christ Chapel at 223 Inman Street in Ringgold. Their hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The chapel is closed on Sunday.

Christ Chapel asks that you do not leave food in the drop off area. The food needs to be taken inside during operating hours.

If those hours are not convenient for you, food may be taken to K-9 Tubtime at 7675 Nashville Street in Ringgold, Northwest Georgia Bank at the Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe locations; Animal Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe and the Catoosa County Publich Library in Benton Place Campus.

For more information, call CCAC at 706-937-2287.

Christ Chapel can accept pet food even after the CCAC food drive ends.
