The original purpose of the trip was to perform for the Dixie Classic Festival, but due to high gas prices, several bands had to pull out of the festival, which ultimately led to the cancellation of it.
However, Heritage Middle had been raising money and preparing for the trip since last April so the band went on the trip anyway and make it an “eduventure,” according to band director Bill Wynn.
Charter buses hauled 110 seventh and eighth grade students and chaperones on the twelve-hour bus trip.
They visited many interesting sites such as the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, Sears Tower, Wrigley Field, and the Navy Pier.
Savannah Cook said it was an amazing trip and she wishes she was back there now.
Dylan Scott said his favorite part of the trip was when they got to see a performance by the Blue Man Group. Scott said the group used percussion in ways he never dreamed and made it really cool.
Catherine Pugsley said she enjoyed the Al Capone Ganster Tour, the Blue Man Group, and all the educational sites they visited.
The students also got the opportunity to dine on world famous Chicago deep dish pizza.
