Just two months after wrapping up the TCSGAA conference championship, Georgia Northwestern’s Lady Bobcats are setting up shop to defend their crown.

Now officially members of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association, formerly Georgia JUCO, GNTC and their conference foes from the 2010-11 season will be battling it out on the national level for the 2011-12 season.

“This past season was our first season of varsity competition,” said Lady Bobcats' head coach Jim Williams. "Now we have a lot of work to do to improve on that success.”

GNTC’s title team begins its run next week, five months before practices begin for the next campaign.

On Monday, May 9 at 6 p.m., on GNTC's Floyd County campus, the coaching staff will hold an informational session for those interested in taking part in the program in 2011-12.

Then, on May 10 and 11 at 7 p.m., GNTC will be holding “open” wokouts at the Rome-Floyd County YMCA in Rome.

“The returning players will run drills and get to know the team,” said Williams. “It’s a chance to expose our program to anyone out there who may be interested in becoming a student-athlete.”
