“Residents may continue placing storm-related debris at the street for curbside pickup. You may expedite the cleanup process by separating vegetative and non-vegetative debris, segregating household hazardous waste, and keeping debris away from fire hydrants, valves, and utility poles,” Helton said.
The first pass for pickup is already underway with another expected in about two weeks, he said.
“Citizens affected by the storm event and needing tree and brush debris picked up at the side of the roads should contact public works division at (706) 935-3574 to be placed on pick up schedule,” he said. “This is especially the case with residents outside the main impact area.”
Please report any illegal dumpsites or incidents of illegal dumping, he said.
Helton added that all residents with any type of storm damage need to register with FEMA whether they are insured or not.
FEMA currently has an office at the Catoosa County Learning Center, 36 Muscogee Trail at Benton Place Campus.
Services for residents in need
Wright said that resources are continuing to be made available to residents who were in the impact zones.
“Over a thousand volunteers helped in various areas of the county over the weekend through our volunteer coordinator office helping with debris pick up, tarping, delivering meals, serving the needs of the survivors at the assistance centers,” he said. “The outpouring of assistance has been a great testament to our country’s capacity to reach out and make a difference.”
