Fort Oglethorpe police say that a woman caught shoplifting clothes and other items from Wal-Mart also had methamphetamine in her possession at the time of her arrest.

According to Fort Oglethorpe Police Department reports:

Cheryl Nicole Wilson, 29, of 417 Longview Drive in Rossville was arrested on Monday, Sept. 12 and charged with theft by shoplifting and violation of the Georgia controlled substances act (VGCSA).

A Wal-Mart employee contacted police after observing and confronting Wilson who attempted to smuggle cloth-ing and other merchandise out of the store without paying for it.

Wilson admitted to attempting to steal the items, and pleaded with loss prevention to not prosecute, reports show.

Wilson was taken into custody and transported to Catoosa County jail.

Upon arrival at the jail, a small plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine was found in an envelope addressed to Wilson in her purse.

The bag was taken in as evidence.

“I asked Wilson what it was, and she confirmed that it was methamphetamine,” officer Gregory Plemons wrote in the report. “Wilson also stated that she has a drug problem.”
