The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department is investigating a string of thefts from nine vehicles in a subdivision off Cloud Spring Road.

According to Fort Oglethorpe Police reports:

Items totaling nearly $1,000 were stolen from vehicles in less than 24 hours.

Seven incidents were reported on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 18, in which residents stated that someone had entered their vehicles the night before and taken items.

Of the seven incidents, one was reported on Holli Lane, two on Bunker Drive, and four on Century Drive. All are in the Fort Town Estates subdivision off of Mineral Lane near Cloud Springs Road.

Two of the incident locations reported multiple vehicles being entered.

Three GPS units, iPod, iPhone car-charger, and $65 in cash were among the items reported stolen, in addition to one victim who told police eight packs of cigarettes were taken from her vehicle.

All the victims said their vehicles were unlocked at the time of the thefts, reports show.

The incidents are believed to have taken place during a 16-hour period. The earliest time that a complainant stated leaving a vehicle for the evening was at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, with the last complainants realizing the vehicle had been entered at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

There are currently no suspects in the case.

“We don’t have any new leads at this time,” said detective Johnny Lanham. “Residents should lock their vehicles overnight, and we encourage them to try not to leave anything of value in plain sight.”

Anyone with information regarding the incidents is encouraged to contact the Fort Oglethorpe Police Depart-ment at 706-866-2512.
