Fort Oglethorpe police arrested an Alabama man wanted on theft and forgery charges after they pulled him over in what turned out to be a stolen vehicle.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Kenneth Ray Poole, 51, of 1054 County Road 119 in Fort Payne, Ala., was arrested Dec. 19 and charged with theft by receiving stolen property and failure to obey traffic control laws after being pulled over along Battlefield Park-way. Poole remained Dec. 27 in the Catoosa County jail.

Poole was pulled over after making an illegal left turn on to Battlefield Parkway from Battlewood Drive, reports show.

“After identifying the driver, I was notified by dispatch that the Toyota truck Mr. Poole was driving was entered as stolen from DeKalb County, Ala.,” Lt. Steve Blevins wrote in the report. “Dispatch also confirmed a warrant for probation violation in Fort Payne, Ala.”

Poole was taken into custody, with a hold placed on him for extradition back to Alabama, reports show.

When Poole was searched while being placed under arrest, two personal checks belonging to a Chickamauga woman were found in his shirt pocket.

“He (Poole) stated that the checks were his mother’s,” Blevins said.

It was later discovered that Poole is suspected of numerous thefts and forgeries by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
