The Walker County 4-H program is making plans for the 2012 Lamb Project. Local youth interested in showing a lamb this summer should contact the Extension Office to get all the details about this 4-H livestock project.

The project is available to students in grades 1-12. Participants are required to purchase a lamb and take care of it at their home throughout the summer. While they are caring for the lamb, they get the opportunity to work with the lamb and prepare it for the show ring.

Participants will get the chance to show their lambs at a number of local shows in late summer/early fall before the show season ends with the state show at the Georgia National Fair in October.

The 4-H Lamb Project is a family-oriented activity where the 4-H members and their families get to spend time together working with and showing their lambs. Those considering getting involved in this project should contact the County Extension Office at 638-2548 to get more information about this upcoming 4-H livestock project.

Norman Edwards is coordinator of Walker County Extension Service.
