COMMUNITY · The LaFayette High School graduation ceremony will be Friday, June 1, at 8 p.m. at the school’s Jack King Football Stadium.

COMMUNITY · Each June, Georgia yard sale shoppers spend the weekend hunting for bargains at the Dixie Highway 90-Mile Sale along U.S. 41. The sale spans 90 miles from Marietta to Ringgold, with 13 participating communities in all. This year’s sale will be held June 1-3, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. COMMUNITY · Youth instructional tennis, for children ages 7-14, will be held June 9 through July 28 (Saturday morning practices) at the Gilbert Stephenson Park tennis courts in Fort Oglethorpe. Registration deadline is June 1. Cost is $75. Visit ymcachattanooga.org for more information.

COMMUNITY · Walker County Senior Center will have a yard sale from 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 1, and from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Center. The Center is located at 636 South Main Street, on the LaFayette Municipal Park campus.

COMMUNITY · Need volunteers to help with “Join Us For 1 - Day of Giving” on June 1; a day for people to donate their spare change in donations boxes at area McDonald's and Regions Banks. COMMUNITY · An Ice Cream Festival at Ruby Falls begins June 1, and runs daily from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. throughout the month of June. Enjoy a selection of Mayfield’s finest ice cream, hand-dipped, with special flavors of the day and free sampling. COMMUNITY · The first annual Northwest Georgia Spring Festival will be held now through June 3 at Cherokee Farms in LaFayette. The festival promises 11 days of family fun, including live bands, clowns, contests, and a kids’ area. Admission is $5; all shows are free with admission. SCHOOL · The Ridgeland High School graduation ceremony will be Saturday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga's Memorial Auditorium.

COMMUNITY · A Cruise-in and car show will be held from noon-5 p.m. on the east side of the square in downtown LaFayette. Enjoy classic cars, food and fellowship. One Eleven restaurant and Elite Custom Paint and Body are sponsoring the event. Participants may enter cars at no charge. Judges will select the Best Restoration, Best Retro-Modeland Best Origiinal.

COMMUNITY · LaFayette Walmart will host “Walk For Life 2012” to benefit Children’s Hospital at Erlanger Saturday, June 2. The event will be held on the nature trail at the LaFayette recreation center. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the shelter behind the pool; the walk will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Inflatables, drinks, food and photo packages will be available. Late registration will be accepted at the event. The cost to rent a booth is $50. Registration forms are available at the LaFayette Walmart customer service desk.

COMMUNITY · The Scenic City Roller Derby team will have a game against the Marietta Derby Darlins Saturday, June 2, at Skate N Play in LaFayette. COMMUNITY · Chickamauga Memorial Post 217 of the American Legion will have a yard sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at the American Legion – Older American Center in Chickamauga. The Center is located at 414 W. 14th Street, next to the ball fields. Donated are needed and may be left at the Legion Hall 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, June 1. The proceeds from the yard sale help Post 217 in their support of the Boy & Cub Scouts, community affairs, handicap ramps, and fellow veterans in need.

COMMUNITY · Hozho Therapeutic Equestrian Serivces will hold its second annual Rock and Ride fundraiser June 2 at Mystery Dog Ranch in Ringgold. They are seeking singers and bands willing to donate their time to help raise money for the organization, which provides horseback riding therapy to adults and children with special needs and to veterans with recent war injuries. COMMUNITY · 42nd Annual Lutheran School Horse Show will be held Saturday, June 2, at the Tri-State Exhibition Center in Cleveland, Tenn. The show benefits Belvoir Christian Academy. COMMUNITY · The Dalton Saturday Market returns for summer starting Saturday, June 2. Christine Waters, a local farmer from Murray county, will be at the Market this week with homegrown tomatoes, green beans, and bell peppers. Waters says the variety of produce she offers will increase throughout the season. In addition to organic locally grown produce, the Market will also feature great local artwork, handmade crafts, jewelry, yard art, jams, homemade bread, fresh eggs, sausage and corn meal. ENTERTAINMENT · The Rosewood Trio will present a concert at LaFayette Presbyterian Church Sunday, June 3, at 6 p.m., sponsored by the church outreach committee. Refreshments will be served following the concert in the church fellowship hall, and the public is invited. The Rosewood Trio has been performing since 1983 in a six-state area and has provided music for many weddings, receptions, and parties. The trio is noted for performing a wide variety of music and includes violin, cello, and piano or organ.

COMMUNITY · The Obedience Club of Chattanooga, 4 miles south of Chattanooga on Ga. 193 in Flintstone, will hold registration for obedience, rally, and NEW agility classes for puppies and dogs Sunday, June 3, from 1-3 p.m. Agility I and II Fundamentals (indoors) will now be offered. Bring a copy of shot records to registration. During registration, various OCC dog/handler teams will present training demonstrations. Classes begin on Monday night, June 4.
