Christy Johnson Anderson seeks to remain as the probate judge for Walker County, an office she has held since 2011.

“My top priority is to continue to serve the citizens of Walker County to the best of my ability on a daily basis,” Anderson said.

She has resided in the county for 39 years and is a 1991 graduate of LaFayette High School.

Anderson attended Dalton State College and Jacksonville State University and has since completed over 240 hours of judicial training at the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education at the University of Georgia for 12 years.

“The Georgia law is your teacher and you must know it and abide by it,” Anderson said. “Otherwise, the public suffers for your ignorance of the law.”

In 2001, she began at the probate court until 2006 when she began serving as chief clerk.

“My goal is serving the public and to run the office in an orderly and efficient manner,” Anderson said. “I plan to continue to be accessible to the public and to try to advance our office to keep up with the latest technology.”

She maintains that any candidate for probate judge must have full understanding of the responsibilities that are assumed when donning the robe.

“Issuing marriage license or weapons carry permits are probably the easiest part of the job,” Anderson said. “The complexities are in knowing the law and how to handle estates, guardianships of minors and incapacitated adults, conservatorships, mental health by two party affidavits, and holding hearings on contested matters are only a few that are required of the judge to know when that door opens each day.”

She has been active with the Walker County Chamber of Commerce, a member of LHS Touchdown Club and a past president of North LaFayette Elementary PTO.

Anderson is a member and the church clerk for Second Baptist Church of LaFayette.

She is currently the president of the 9th District Probate Judges since 2011.

She also worked at the Bank of LaFayette for 9 years.

Her personal words to live by are from Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Anderson can be contacted at 706-638-1404 or 706-638-2852 and available by email at probate@walkerga.us.
