Ringgold High School (RHS) sports booster clubs will raffle a 2013 Corvette and $15,000 in cash to benefit the RHS Athletic Department–Tornado Relief Fund.

The RHS athletic department suffered great loss after the April 27, 2011, tornado, which devastated the football field, baseball field and other venues. While rebuilding has progressed rapidly, many facilities remain unfinished, according to a media release, and funds are desperately needed to finalize specialty areas created to serve the specific needs of the school’s various sports teams.

Although insurance covered much of the replacement of major equipment, funding of the newly installed artificial turf was a necessary upgrade that was not fully covered by insurance reimbursement.

“Proceeds from the Corvette raffle will allow for these facilities to get closer to completion so that RHS students can move past the events of April 27,” said Robert Akins, RHS athletic director. “This Corvette raffle is a great opportunity to support RHS athletics while allowing folks the chance to win great prizes.”

The lucky winner of the grand prize — a 2013 Corvette and $15,000 cash — will be announced on Nov. 9 at the Ringgold High School football stadium. Other cash prizes will include drawings for $10,000, $5,000 and $1,000, as well as drawings for four RHS season tickets and two RHS season tickets. Prizes will be awarded according to the terms of the official rules, available online at ringgoldraffle.com. A maximum of 3,000 tickets will be sold.

Major advertising sponsors include Walter Jackson Chevrolet, Ringgold Telephone Co., Tri Graphics Printing & Signs and Keith Cochran CPA, P.C.

The booster clubs supporting this raffle include the RHS Quarterback Club, RHS Dugout Club, RHS Tip-Off Club and the RHS Blue Nation student support group, as well as other sports supporters of Ringgold High School.
