The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists in Catoosa County of the closure of two local roads off Ga. 146 (Cloud Springs Road), scheduled for Monday, July 27.

Pine Grove Access will be closed to traffic between Ga. 146 and Springs Lodge. Larry Drive will also be closed from Pine Grove Access to the driveway of Roto Rooter. Both roads are expected to remain closed for approximately six weeks to allow for work on the reconstruction and relocation of these two local roads.

The scheduled construction work on Pine Grove Access and Larry Drive is part of a 0.93-mile project of widening for additional lanes and interchange reconstruction on I-75 at Ga. 146 (Cloud Springs Road). The project also includes the construction of a new bridge and approaches on I-75 over Ga. 146. Work on this project began the third week of September 2007. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of December 2009, at a construction cost of $28,276,129.

“Georgia DOT understands that the closure of Pine Grove Access and Larry Drive may cause some inconvenience, but it is necessary for accomplishing the operation of relocating these two local roads as quickly as possible, and ultimately the completion of the Cloud Springs Road interchange project,” said Kent Sager, district engineer at the DOT office in Cartersville. “Upon completion, this project will certainly improve the flow of traffic in the area, make it safer, and help the public get where they need to go in Catoosa County,” he added.
