According to Catoosa County Sheriff's Department:
Marvin Edward Nealis, 35, of 875 LaFayette St. stabbed 17-year-old Bobby Lane once in the abdomen last Tues-day, March 6, when the pair argued outside Lane's house. Lane died the next morning.
Bond was not set Thursday, March 8, in Nealis' first appearance hearing. Officials expect Nealis, who is charged with murder, to be bound over to Superior Court for a bond hearing.
Catoosa authorities had an outstanding probation warrant on Nealis at the time of his arrest.
Deputies responded last Tuesday to a disturbance call about 10:30 p.m. at 181 Oak Circle Drive in Ringgold, where Nealis apparently had come to reconcile with Lane's mother, who ended her dating relationship with Nea-lis.
Lane and some other people confronted Nealis outside the residence and tried to convince him to leave. Nealis stabbed the victim with a kitchen steak knife after the others went back inside.
The victim came back into the house, where emergency personnel found him. Lane was transferred to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
Nealis fled and was taken into custody Wednesday, March 7, in the attic of the residence next door. He periodi-cally stayed in the house with his friend, 46-year-old Mike Bailey. Bailey, who is charged with harboring a fugitive and obstruction of justice, was released on $11,000 bond.
Police previously answered disturbance calls from the victim's mother, involving Nealis
