The joint Senate and House Economic Development Committees will meet on Thursday and Friday to hear from local representatives from Catoosa County, Dalton-Whitfield, Chickamauga and Lake Winnepesaukah. While there, they also will tour the Gordon Lee Mansion, Rock City Gardens, the Ringgold Welcome Center on Interstate 75, and the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center, as well as other sites.
“I am looking forward to showing off the northwestern part of the state,” Sen. Mullis, who grew up in Chickamauga, said. “South Georgia has her plantations and quail hunting; the coast has its beaches and seafood; Atlanta has sporting events and nightlife, and I want my friends in the Senate and House to see what North Georgia has to offer with her mountains, culture and the state’s oldest carousel.
“This is a beautiful part of the state, and when we ask people to stay and see Georgia we want them to see the picturesque scenery, experience our history, enjoy the entertainment, meet the hospitable people and eat the delicious food,” Mullis said.
The Committee members also will hear from representatives from existing industry, tourism, chambers of commerce and local governments.
