Authorities arrested two LaFayette residents last week after seizing 2 pounds of marijuana.

On Tuesday, July 24, the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, LaFayette Police Department, and Walker County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 9 Mill St., the home of Jerry L. Young, 53, and his wife Brenda, 48. Authorities also searched Young’s Appliance Repair shop at 10 King St.

Authorities seized 2 pounds of marijuana packaged for distribution, a vehicle, and $6,000 cash.

The pair was arrested and charged with felony possession and possession with intent to distribute.

The Youngs were placed in Walker County Jail, and bond was set at $10,000.

After gaining information, authorities began conducting an investigation of the Youngs about a month ago, according to Dino Richardson, LaFayette director of public safety.

The case is still under investigation and more arrests are expected.

- Last week, Drug Task Force helicopters searched Walker County for evidence of marijuana.

The helicopters fly over Georgia’s 159 counties twice a year, according to Sheriff Steve Wilson. Authorities are able to detect fields of marijuana due to a unique shade of green, but none was found in Walker County
