Walker County Emergency Services will hold its annual boot drive over Labor Day weekend with donations for national charities, including Hurricane Katrina relief.
In the past, Emergency Service donated all the money collected to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year the department held a similar drive for the tsunami victims.
This year it will split the donations with the American Red Cross and MDA, according to spokeswoman Traci Tapp.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, look for firefighters and staff at locations across the county, including Shields Crossroads in Chickamauga, in front of the Wal-Mart in LaFayette, and at the intersection of Ga. 2 and Ga. 193.
Tapp said donations also may be dropped off at fire headquarters in Rock Spring Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
