Walker is among dozens of Georgia counties that will receive funds for shelters, soup kitchens and foods banks from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Walker County will receive $31,944. Area counties receiving funds are:

  • Chattooga County, $13,082


  • Floyd County, $52,258


  • Polk County, $21,557


  • Walker County, $31,944


  • Whitfield County, $48,964


The total for all counties is $4.3 million.

“Countless Georgians in communities across our state work each day to help our fellow citizens have access to food, shelter and other critical services during time of need, and it is important that we continue to support these local organizations,” said U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.).

“These vital funds aid local communities by helping those who need it most,” added U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.)
