Jessica Cross led the way for Ringgold as the Lady Tigers shutout visiting rival Ridgeland 6-0 in Thursday's Region 7-AAAA opener.

The junior flamethrower tossed a two-hitter, while striking out 11 batters in seven innings on the mound. She also contributed two singles at the plate and an RBI.

Jessica was lights out tonight," first-year Ringgold head Coach Vince Phillips said. "She was a cool customer out there and she didn't panic. She was on."

Cross - who is 4-0 after Thursday's win - struck out all three batters in the first and third innings.

Hailey O'Sheilds broke up the no-hitter in the fourth inning. Ridgeland's starting pitcher Kendell Brunning drew a walk and bunted for a hit.

The following two batters struck out and the third popped up to second-base to end the inning.
