Two teenagers were arrested last weekend for burglarizing LaFayette Middle School, where they caused more than $10,000 in damages and vandalism.

According to LaFayette Police Department reports:

Arrested were Jeremy Keith Crabtree, 18, of LaFayette, and a 14-year-old male who is a student at LaFayette Middle.

The incident occurred about 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, when the alarm system alerted police.

Picnic tables were turned over, the football field was vandalized, and two mobile class-rooms were broken into. Fire extinguishers were sprayed around the inside of the school. Six computers were stolen from the school, but were recovered when the teens were ar-rested. The campus grass was littered with paperwork, fire extinguishers and a computer monitor. Two school buses were broken into and vandalized.

Shoe prints were discovered inside of the school, where the two teens had walked across the sprayed areas. The teens destroyed surveillance cameras outside and inside the building but were caught on tape by cameras they didn’t destroy.

The teens were unable to flee from scene because of vehicle trouble and were arrested by LaFayette police officers.

The total amount of property damage equaled more than $10,000, but that estimate could grow.

You're right, Iro.

There are some good teenagers. Some might see this report and snicker at what these two have done, but most would be disgusted.

They should be punished with several days of community service at LEAST. It must have took quite a while to clean up their mess. Not to mention the monetary damages.

PrometheusX303, now who ever accused vandals of being intelligent;-) ?

I have seen this school make such great improvements over the last 5 or so years and I am so sad that these kids did this. It gives teenagers a bad name, especially LaFayette teenagers, which is sad because I know that there are a LOT of great teenagers in LaFayette.

I hope justice is both swift and severe in this case because according to Mr. Culberson, they were in no way remorseful for what they did.

It pays to know what you are doing before you decide to do something stupid like this.

If you destroy the cameras, make sure you get all of them. (Plus the videos)

Don't walk through the fire extinquisher chemicals that YOU sprayed...

Make sure you getaway vehicle is in good shape.
