Geno Phillips of Chattanooga won the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon held at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park Saturday Nov. 14. Phillips completed the 26.2 mile course in 2:43:06, running at an average pace of 6 minutes 14 seconds per mile. Emily Anne Vall of Atlanta was the female champion of the marathon in a time of 2:58:01.
The half marathon winner was Greg Johnson of Knoxville, Tenn., in a time of 1:22:46. Emily Cooper of Signal Mountain was the half marathon female champion in a time of 1:33:39.
This year marked the 30th running of the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon, the second running for the Chickamauga Battlefield Half Marathon and the third running of the Chickamauga Battlefield Junior Marathon.
The event set registration records with 600 registrants for the marathon and 900 registrants for the half marathon. Both the marathon and half marathon sold out two months before race day.
