As Christmas gets closer with each passing day, the Boynton Elementary School chorus continues to serenade the community with performances of their “Finally Home for Christmas” program.

The 35-minute program, which includes singing, acting, and dancing, has been performed multiple times over the past few weeks, and has garnered the chorus much praise from the parents as well as the community.

“These students have really worked hard and have really done a wonderful job,” said chorus director Sheri Thrower. “They’ve learned their music and practiced a great deal to be able to perform at this level.”

The chorus has performed at many notable venues such as Disney World in Orlando and Radio City Music Hall in New York, and will now travel to Washington, D.C., on Dec. 8 to perform at a special event on Dec. 10.

Comprised of 40 student performers as well as various chaperones and parents, the group of 80-plus will make the journey to the nation’s capital, which will allow the students to see firsthand a place that they often read about in the classroom.

“I’ve seen a lot of schools perform over the years, and these kids are simply outstanding,” said travel adviser David DiFranco. “Washington is lucky to have a group like this performing for them this holiday season.”

The chorus will continue to perform when they return from Washington with a show on Dec. 17 at Heritage High School. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students. The show will begin at 7 p.m.
