Fort Oglethorpe mayor Ronnie Cobb says Costco will be taking online applications starting around mid-May and will begin hiring in June.

The store is expected to open in September. It is expected to offer between 125 and 150 jobs, with about half the jobs being full-time.

On average, the jobs will pay between $11 and $21 an hour for cashier positions, and most employees will be eligible for benefits within the first year of employment.

Costco has said it will seek to hire employees within Catoosa.

Cobb said most of the hiring and interviewing will be done at a trailer on site as the construction process wraps up, but he said the city has offered the old Dalton State College campus near City Hall as a potential site for inter-viewing.

“It will be up to Costco and the state Department of Labor to choose whether to use the (Dalton Stage College) wing, but we wanted to give them that option,” Cobb said.

A list of jobs available and hiring information can be found on the Costco website.

Costco’s website describes the company as a “membership warehouse club.” Gold Star and Business members pay $50. The highest membership is “executive,” which costs an additional $50 and gives a 2 percent reward on most Costco purchases. The company sells appliances, furniture, electronics, food and equipment for cars.

In 2008, the company was ranked number 32 in Fortune 500 magazine.
