As the entry deadline for these projects get closer, it is important that those interested in participating in one of these projects contact us at the extension office to get all the details.
Livestock projects have been a part of the Georgia 4-H program from the beginning. It is a family-oriented project that involves parents working together with their 4-H member to get their animal ready for the show ring. Besides being a lot of fun and very rewarding, the livestock project helps build self-esteem and responsibility in youth.
For more information about showing cattle through 4-H, call the Walker County Extension Office at 638-2548. We can provide all the details for those considering one of these projects, ranging from the entry deadlines to the correct age of cattle to get.
Norman Edwards is coordinator of Walker County Extension Service.
