Local musicians will be performing Nov. 6 as part of the inaugural Queen City Fest at the LaFayette Recreation Center stage.

Scheduled local performers include Dennis Brown and Brown’s Biscuit, Common Ground, Mercy Call and Robbie Hopkins & Georgia Clay Band. They will be joined by folk singer-songwriter Martha Ann Brooks, whose song “When Your Soldier Comes Back Home” was recently recorded by Neil Young, as well as renowned pianist and singer Tim Veazey, who has been associated with artists such as Crystal Gale, Hank Williams Jr., Chet Atkins, and many others. He has also performed at Turner Field in Atlanta, the Grand Ole Opry and on The Tonight Show.

Queen City Fest is family friendly and features a mix of secular and Christian music. Performances will be held on the outdoor stage at LaFayette Recreation Center at 638 South Main Street.

The stage area offers a playground and large grassy area where guests are invited to spread their own blankets or sit on provided chairs.

Admission is free of charge with a donation of $5-$10 or more recommended from those who enjoy the event.

Drinks, snacks and desserts will be available for purchase along with tickets to win a variety of door prizes donated by local businesses. A full list of available prizes and additional musicians is available online at www.k4c.info/qcf/.

Door prize entries and tax deductible donations will go to benefit the ministries of Kids 4 Christ. Kids 4 Christ is a nonprofit working to serve at-risk children in LaFayette. Activities at K4C include weekly Bible classes, an annual school supply giveaway and Walker County’s only free academic after school program.
